Regretsy

Allowing people to sell handmade art and craft items online is a great way for emerging "artists" to get their work out there and earn a bit of cash on the side.  Sites such as Etsy have been providing just this kind of service since 2005...

Unfortunately however; along with every beautiful necklace made of buttons, there is an inversely beautiful statue of a fish wearing a squirrel suit.

This is where Regretsy comes into play.  The creators of the site trawl through the darkest reaches of Etsy and provide you with some of the most disturbing, hilarious, and occasionally awesome findings.  Some of the items they've managed to find are really quite up there with the most whiskey-tango-foxtrot of internet offerings.

Zeitgeist Toys

Zeitgeist Toys

A unique series of designer art toys by Zeitgeist Toys from Berlin. Creative toys from this collection differ by size and appearance, and are created from porcelain and precious metals. To achieve interesting contrast designers painted some of them with flowers and covered others with Austrian lace. All toys are extremely stylish, exceptionally high-quality, and exceptionally high-priced.

Arc Mouse

Arc Mouse

Just because a mouse is portable doesn't mean it has to be pint-sized. The Arc Mouse ($36) proves this point with an intriguing folding design that collapses for easy travel but folds out to offer a full-size mouse experience. Other features include a scroll wheel, ambidextrous design, a USB micro-transceiver with 30-foot range that snaps into the bottom of the mouse when in transit, customizable buttons, and more.

PostlerFerguson papercraft weapon DIY kits

Sadly these 1:1 models designed by PostlerFerguson don't function as real weapons, but thankfully they're readily available without a firearms licence.  I think the most damage they're able to inflict is a mildly painful papercut.  Priced at $30-35US, they're a great present for the creative psychopath.  They're pretty much awesome.

Available soon from gestalten.com or amazon.com

Marc Johns: Delusional Paper Towel Tube

Something about this image makes me happy - I'm not sure what exactly it is though.  There are some more equally as good artistic creations on Marc Johns' website.

Freshly Baked Gallery (online virtual art gallery)

Want to check out some art, but can't be bothered leaving the warm comfort of your house?  Check out Freshly Baked Gallery.  The site is 'curated' by a few guys in Melbourne... and most of the artists I'm pretty sure are Australian.  All of the works are for sale... and there is even a print shop where you can buy some of the artworks at a much more affordable price.  There are some really high resolution images of each of the artworks from various angles so you really know what you're buying...

inPRNT makes me feel poor...

If I wish I were a rich man; then I could buy all of these prints, which are available in a range of sizes up to around 60cm x 90cm, for about $100 AUD (excl. shipping)... inPRNT features artworks (illustration, graphic design, fine art and photography) from a diverse range of artists at reasonable prices with half the profits going straight to the artists.  They're only available unframed I'm pretty sure, but that means the postage costs are lowered and there's less chance of them being damaged in transit.  A similar concept to RedBubble but there is a lot less crappy "art" to sift through.
